In the recently declared CBSE Board results for the academic year 2019-20 Shirdi Sai Baba School running under the aegis of Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Society, a leading NGO, in Faridabad popularly known as Sai Dham, achieved 100% pass percentage for class X.

There were a total of 61 students out which 07 students scored above 80% and 31 students scored above 60% with 110 distinctions in various subjects.

It is a matter of pride for all who are associated with Shirdi Sai Baba School where most of the students are hailing from the under-privileged section of the society.

A student named Yash scored 90.6% and is the school topper and Gaurav Matta with 89.2% stands 2nd. A girl named Nandani stood 3rd with 85.2%. Subject wise toppers are Gaurav Matta with 97% in Maths, Yash with 95% in Social Science, Nandni and Rohit with 95% in Computers, Pooja and Gaurav Matta with 95% in Hindi and Yash topped in both Science and English with 91% and 84% respectively.

The topper of the school’s father is a daily wage labourer while Nandini’s mother is a single parent who works as house-help. It is to be noted that all the students of the school hail from poor families where the parents struggle to provide meals, let alone high-quality education.

Touched by the plight of poor children from neighbouring clusters, loitering aimlessly around the campus, Dr. Motilal Gupta, the founder-chairman of Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Society realized that these children needed an opportunity to be educated along with incentives to motivate them to do so. Sai Dham, therefore, established ‘Shirdi Sai Baba School’ for providing 100% free and quality education to the poor children along with food, uniforms, books, study material, health care, transport and excursion.

The efforts, to motivate them bore fruit and the number of children has since risen to 1400+ at Faridabad & 600+ at Niswara (Bundelkhand), out of which over 50% are girls. These poor children who could never dream of even going to school, are now receiving a quality education and that too through digital technology and state of the art smart-classrooms and labs, free of cost.

It is to be noted that during COVID lockdown, where the private schools were running their classrooms on e-platforms, Sai Dham distributed free smartphones along with prepaid sim so that the students receive the same high-quality education as their counterparts in posh private schools. Dr. Gupta is determined to provide underprivileged children with the best education. ‘If they become doctors, engineers, it will be a huge boost to the society, not only will they pull their families out of poverty but also will help in making our country progress’, says Dr. Gupta.

The dedicated Principal of the school, Ms. Beenu Sharma gives credit to the hard-working teachers of the school for phenomenal success. ‘We are now looking for sponsors who can provide scholarship to the successful students for their higher education’, says Ms. Sharma.
