Pradhan Naresh Barwal is a well-known philanthropist and social figure in Gurgaon for his dedication to humanity, society and people of his area. Over the last two decades, he has been engaged in social and welfare activities of his area Municipal Council Ward No 1 of Gurgaon.
He has been engaged in the socio-economic upliftment of the people of the society cutting across caste, creed, colour and religion. Thus he is a living example of how an individual with devotion and dedication to his work can serve humanity and society.
Born and brought up in Gurgaon, after completion of his education he joined Gram Pnachyat in 1989. Later on, he joined Bahujan Samaj Party and worked there as Vidhan Sabha Adhyaksh. Then he fought election in Block Election.
Ever since his daughter in law Councilor Mithlesh Barwal elected from the ward no 1 Gurugram Municipal Corporation, he came forward to help her in tough outdoor work and he has always been a guiding star in her work.
“ I was to fight for councillor election from ward no 1 of Gurgaon Municipal Corporation. Since this ward was reserved for ladies, so people elected my daughter in law Mithilesh Barwal from here. But I am always helping her in her work and in her mission to serve the people and the society better,” said Naresh Barwal.
“From the last two and a half years, we worked on a different project worth of 90 crores rupees. We have started work of two treatment plants and put the master sewer line. The village pond of Jahajgarh has been renovated and surrounding walls have been put up there. The work of the community centre has been completed.
In New Palam Vihar area we are working on the sewer line and rainwater drainage and works are in progress. Due to the Corona crisis, all these works are stalled. But all these work will resume soon and complete these work as soon as possible.” said Naresh Barwal.
Whenever there is a crisis in the society Naresh Barwal always comes forward to help the people and he is always ready to help the poor and needy. When the country was reeling under emergency-like situation due to Corona Pandemic, he came forward to help the people of his area like front line soldiers in the battlefield. For two months he arranged a meal of two lakhs people at his own expenses.
He also distributed raw ration to more than four thousand people along with the help of Councilor Mithilesh. If anyone- senior citizen, ladies and sick people could not come to collection the ration he would delivered the ration at their doorstep. Every morning trucks loaded with ration would go places which are not accessible to go.
This is not alone they also took the sanitation drive in different areas of Gurgaon three times. The areas that have covered under their social and humanitarian work are Swroop Garden, Rattan Vihar, Sarai Village, Nihal Colony, New Palam Vihar and Jaghgarh.
“ Most most of the people of these areas are hailing from the marginal background. Their economic condition is not good. When the lockdown was announced by the government, no government machinery was ready to cope with the situation, but we took the initiative first and started our Kitchen in an open area.
Keeping utmost care of social distance, wearing mask and sanitation of surrounding areas we took the risk of feeding thousands of people daily. All the expenses were from my own pocket. But when we found no one remained hungry in our area, we felt as we did real sewa to my fellow countrymen,” disclosed Naresh Barwal proudly.
Sharing his experiences of those days Barwal said, “we took the risk of feeding more than five thousands people daily despite the threat of Virus. But that was not our concern, our main fear was that no one remained hungry in our area. For me, this is the real blessings if no one goes to sleep without food.”
For his service to people of his area during the Corona Pandemic, on 17th July 2020, the entire village of Sarai Alawardi gave him a standing ovation by wearing him turban, a garland of flowers and currency and presenting him a memento. “It is indeed a great moment for me. I never expected anything in return for my service. But for the love and affection I got, I am grateful to all my people this area,” said Barwal.
But Naresh Barwal does not want to confine in a small ward alone. He has a bigger vision in life. Down the line, he wants to serve the people of Pataudi and fight the Assembly election.
Though Barwal is not affiliated to any political party he has good relation with BJP. He has been working closely with Gurgaon MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh.
“My relation with Rao Inderjit Singh is very cordial and he is like my elder brother. He has come several times to our ward. He is always ready to help in my mission and my work. I would always like to offer him my moral support in his mission. He is a wonderful politician,” said Naresh.
He has also good relation with MLA of his area Rakesh Daultabad. On his relation with Rakesh, Barwal said, “ Rakesh is very cooperative and helpful in his attitude. Whenever I need any help Rakesh is ready to help me. He always gives me respect like my son. I have a wonderful experience working with Rakesh. People of Badshapur are very fortunate to have an MLA like Rakesh.”
Naresh Barwal is not a public figure alone, he always a true blue family man. He is blessed with two sons and two daughters. All of them are settled in their life.
He is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Ballavbhai Patel. He is also a very spiritual man. He is inspired by the lines of Bhagawat Gita and spend his morning time reading Indian scriptures.
He keeps interested in Yoga and Meditation and practises them regularly. Whenever he is free he takes out time to visit pilgrim places like Mathura, Vrindavan, Haridwar and Balaji with his family members and does lots of charity work.
