After nearly a year of lockdowns and homestay, Global Cultural Foundation and Ramneek Arts unveiled their first Auditorium show of 2021 in the Grand Auditorium of Arya Samaj Mandir in DLF Phase-2, Gurugram, on Friday the 19th February. The musical evening, titled "Yaadgar Taraane", was presented by some of the most eminent singers of Gurugram and Delhi NCR to usher in the spring season and to infuse a new spirit of melody and liveliness.
When the whole world is on the net and musical events are being organized online in a new format, Col. Chadha, the Founder of the Global Cultural Foundation and Ms Lilly Singh, the President of Ramneek Arts, decided to bring the music back on the stage with the old fervour and charm of being together. It was felt that time has come to commence the live performances once again with the artists and the audience taking all the COVID measures to stay completely safe.
Global Cultural Foundation is a group of Music Enthusiasts based out of Gurugram which encourages new talent and has promoted hundreds of singers in Gurugram and Delhi NCR. Ramneek Arts is another famous musical platform for music lovers. Its moving spirit Ms Lilly Singh is a household name in Gurugram when it comes to spreading of music, particularly, through an informal musical group of senior citizens of Gurugram called SARGAM.
The musical event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and honouring the distinguished guests with floral bouquets. The Chief Guest was Mr Subhash Jain and other Guests of Honour were Dr Umesh Sahgal, Nupur Singh, Suman Chawla, Tuhina Chatterjee. Col. Chadha mentioned in his motivational address that music lovers must draw the elixir of life through music “ It is music that gives the vital energy and brings us out of any adverse situation AND it is music that fills our lives with love for life” he said.
Ms Lilly Singh, the founder of Ramneek Arts recalled that the musical activities were at their peak during the spring of 2020 when a sudden jolt from the skies pushed everyone behind the doors of their homes. “But we never let the spirits fall and we initiated a series of daily, weekly and special on-line musical events to bring together the music lovers with a zest for life and rhythm in their day-to-day activities at home,” said Ms Lilly Singh.
The audience cheered for the musical maestro's Col. Chadha and Ms Lilly Singh when they presented a motivational and super melodious song ‘Aane Wala Pal Jane Wala Hai’. The message of this song is loud and clear that there is no room for despair in any situation.
The audience was on its feet with the beats of the song ‘Ye Jhuki Jhuki Jhuki Nigahen Teri’ from the movie ‘Aao Pyaar Karen’ sung by the popular singer Shiv Chowdhry, a senior retired bureaucrat who has taken to singing as his passion. He again made the audience dance to the tune of OP Nayyar song ‘Laakhon Hein Nigaah Mein’.
Another senior singer Swatantra Dhawan who is admired in NCR brought the magic of OP Nayyar on the stage with his song ‘Chhupne Waale Samne Aa’ and ‘Hue Hain Tum Pe Aashique Hum’.
The versatile music guru Col. Chadha captivated the music lovers with his inimitable voice and style with the super hit songs Naa Chaahun Sona Chandi and Tumsa Nahin Dekha. The high point of the musical evening was his duet with Ms Lilly Singh Aaa Ke Teri Baahon Mein har Shaam Lage sindoori.
The melody of the Golden era of Bollywood echoed with the song Zulmi Sung Aankh Ladi from Madhumati presented by Rohini Chowdhry whose voice is a treat to the ears. The audience also enjoyed her song Mere Khwaabo Mein Jo Aaye from the musical DDLJ.
Ms Lilly Singh enthralled the audience by singing songs on popular demand like Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi Mein Aaye and a Punjabi dance number which made the music lovers dance in ecstasy in front of the stage. A duet with shiv Chaudhary Kya Khoob lagti ho brought thunderous applause.
Ravi Joshi, another very popular singer of NCR entertained the audience with his melodious voice rendering the OP Nayyar hits like ‘Aap Ke Haseen Rukh Pe Aaj naya Noor hai’ and ‘Ye Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ from the musical movie Kashmir Ki kali.
The anchor Vinod Bajaj is a very popular figure in NCR for the last many years was brought into the show on popular demand. His rib-tickling comedy and presentation of jokes was the central attraction of the show. He kept the audience spellbound with his humour and ready wit.
Mohit Aggarwal, a popular singer presented a magical composition of the classical stalwarts Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma and Hari Prasad Chaurasiya through the song ‘Jaadoo Teri Nazar’ from the film ‘Darr’ .
Two duets by Rohini Chowdhri ‘Hawa Ke Saath Saath’ and ‘Jaane Man’ with Ravi Joshi and Swatantra Dhawan were applauded by the audience with endless clapping and cheer.
The event ended with an Awards Ceremony to honour the COVID Volunteers of GCF & Ramneek Arts who contributed to the success of the online events during the lockdown period which kept the music lovers of Gurugram engaged in music.
